After two days of instruction and preparation, today marked the first of our three days of race competitions for ISSSC school groups. Breakfast was bolted down early as the scramble for start lists and race bibs got going early this morning, with racers making their way up the mountain for a 10.15 start. With over 300 students heading to the race course, the atmosphere was brilliant!

Today was all about our giant slalom event, and ESF, ESI and Impulse coaches were all on hand to ensure the races ran as smoothly as possible. To all the teachers that assisted with gatekeeping and marshalling – we salute you! Racing in today’s conditions was no mean feat with early morning winds blasting up to 45km per hour. All the schools brought their A-game and got stuck in, with many students giving racing a go for the first time.

The sun came out as racers began their second runs and gave us a wonderful post-race afternoon of bluebird skiing.

Results for today’s junior and senior boys and girls giant slalom can be found at the links below. A huge well done to all who took part – roll on individual slalom tomorrow!
