The Independent Schools Ski Championships really is the whole package. We work hard to ensure it’s a six-day bonanza jammed full of not just ski racing, but après-ski and social activities too.
This year, we’ve even surpassed our own expectations. We’ve arranged for some truly unbelievable guests to join us in Les Deux Alpes. Here’s who you can look forward to meeting!
Jamie Barrow holds a pretty impressive Guinness World Record. In 2018 he broke his own record (which he set in 2013) after reaching a speed of 93.2mph on a snowboard as he was towed behind a Maserati!
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that this speed machine will be joining us in Les Deux Alpes. Throughout the week he’ll be sharing some of his incredible stories and even joining our competitors on the slopes.
We’ll let Jamie explain a bit more…
Excitingly, two of the wonderful team from MPI Brokers, Michael and Beth, will also be joining us in resort. MPI are one of the leading suppliers of travel and skiing insurance. This year, they’re hosting a drinks reception to welcome our lovely teachers and group leaders to L2A.
The Winter Sports Foundation was set up to increase participation and improve accessibility of winter sports . Through fundraising and charitable donations, WSF help gifted young athletes progress by offering them top class coaching, access to equipment and funding and so much more.
They’ll be at the event all week long this year to talk to our competitors about the foundation. What’s more WSF will also be on hand to advise our racers about how the organisation could help them progress as snowsport athletes.
And there’s more
We also have a fun-packed après schedule planned. In the evenings, our competitors will enjoy everything from bowling, a trip to the cinema, ice skating, night skiing and of course, our legendary awards night disco!
Some of these activities are weather dependant so keep your fingers and toes crossed and join our Facebook Event for updates!
Remember to use the #SchoolSkiChamps2019 when you post any pictures or videos from the event on social media. Everyone who posts will win a Halsbury Ski ski strap at the end of the week!
